Sunday Suppers
Every Sunday
6:30- 7:45 pm - 4th and K Street NW
8:00- 9:15 pm - 9th and N Street NW
Every Sunday evening a group of people gather to reach out to homeless men, women and children on the streets of Washington, DC, offering hot meals, drinks and clothes. As important as the food and clothing we provide are, they are secondary to the real heart of the program: sharing friendship with the people we serve and establishing relationships that continue from week to week.
Sunday Suppers sets up tables and chairs on the sidewalk, pushes Motown, Soul and R&B out big speakers and shares an hour and 15 minutes visiting with people at each site. Sunday Suppers is not affiliated with any specific church, although most of the people associated belong to some organized religion - our members have included Protestants, Catholics, Jews, Hindus, Muslims and Eastern religions. Need a Helping Hand with Your Service Project?
In order to increase our community service opportunities, we are asking for YOUR help! If you do any volunteering on programs outside of Yada and want to include, Yada folks, please send us some information and we will spread the word! This will help us stay in tune with ways we are all helping the community and builds Yada spirit at the same time! You can send an email to Katie Blaisdell.
- Get Involved in Sunday Morning Worship -- If you are interested in reading a scripture and doing the "Response of the People" (like a Gospel Scripture and a Psalm response reading from the Hymnal) in the future, let Chrys Lemon know.
