One of the hotly debated topics at the crossroads between spiritual and secular life is whether God exists.
Sunday, January 22, 2012 at 1:45PM "Telling the Church’s Story, One Stone at a Time" - a sermon delivered by the Rev. Steven Baines on Laity Sunday, January 22, 2012. As Disciples of Christ we proclaim that we are followers of the examples and instructions that Christ has given us. As “living stones,” we use the gifts and talents that we have been given to tell the world of God’s love. Let us worship God and offer our thanksgiving and praise!Today's pulpit guest is Rev. Steven Baines, vice-moderator of the congregation and assistant field agent for Americans United for the Separation of Church and State. We are grateful for Rev. Baines' leadership and message, along with the other leaders who are assisting in this service of worship on Laity Sunday.

"The Fierce Urgency of Now" - sermon and service based on Ecclesiastes and I Peter and words from
the speeches of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

The work that Dr. King started is not finished. The prophetic nature of Dr. King's message beckons us to uphold the ideal of justice, to end oppression of all kinds, to stop bigotry, to help the least of those among us, and to make the world a better place. This worship service is a call for all people to make a difference in the world right now because the need is still great and extremely urgent.
Voter registration forms and a list of suggestions for community service opportunities will be available. All are asked to bring canned goods to benefit Bradley Christian Mission Center at Pilgrimage Christian Church and the National City Christian Church Food Pantry.
Parking for the service is available on the streets near the church and complimentary parking is also available at the Washington Plaza Hotel parking garage on Thomas Circle.
